HEAL Nepal and WVAF Organize Stationery Distribution Program at Yangrima School

In a heartwarming display of community support and educational commitment, HEAL Nepal in collaboration with the World Vision Aid Foundation (WVAF) organized a Community-Based Public Health and Education Project Stationery Distribution Program at Yangrima School in Sermathang, Helambu-2, Sindhupalchok. The program was made possible through the generous support of Stichting Nepal and the Wilde Ganzen Foundation whose continued partnership has enabled meaningful development work in the region.
The initiative forms part of a broader Community-Based Public Health and Education Project which seeks to address the interconnected challenges of health and education access in remote mountain communities like Sermathang. By pairing essential educational support with public health awareness, the project reflects a holistic approach to community development – recognizing that a child’s ability to learn is closely tied to their overall well-being.
Background: A Community-Focused Partnership
Sermathang, located in the Helambu region of Sindhupalchok district is home to communities that continue to rebuild and strengthen local institutions such as schools in the years following the 2015 earthquake. Yangrima School serves as an important educational hub for children in the area offering classes up to grade 12.
HEAL Nepal and WVAF have worked together on public health and education initiatives in the region with this stationery distribution program serving as one component of their ongoing collaborative efforts. The support of international partners Stichting Nepal and the Wilde Ganzen Foundation has been instrumental in extending the reach and impact of these programs, underscoring the value of cross-border cooperation in local development work.

- Nava Raj Adhikari, Executive Director of WVAF attended along with members of his organizational team, reaffirming the foundation’s direct engagement with the communities it serves.
- Dr. Govinda Timilsena, Senior Research Economist at the World Bank also graced the occasion with his presence – a notable acknowledgment of the program’s relevance to broader development and economic discourse in Nepal.

Distribution and Atmosphere
The distribution of stationery to students was carried out by the female staff members of HEAL Nepal and WVAF who took the lead in engaging directly with the children throughout the event.
